Woman at Point Zero

An unofficial cover redesign for Nawal El Saadawi's novel, showing a faceless woman behind the bars of a prison cell.

A school project to redesign the Turkish edition of Nawal El Saadawi's Woman at Point Zero (Sıfır Noktasındaki Kadın), the story Firdaus tells from her prison cell as she awaits execution. The cover reduces her story to one image: a faceless woman behind prison bars, with a single red mark as the only trace of her identity. Where the bars cross her face they turn grey, so she stays visible through them. The full jacket covers the front, spine and back. This is an unofficial redesign; the publisher's logo and the back cover text belong to the original edition.
